Many people love the look and style of these types of teapots, and there are many varieties to choose from. There are many oriental styles, English, and a wonderful selection of ceramic and porcelain. Some are so nice that you would have a hard time actually using them to hold tea, but want to put them in a nice display case instead. You can find these at many estate sales, auctions, and antique shops, and if you look closely, and have an eye for these things, even garage sales.

The Japanese have been making teapots and drinking tea for thousands of years, and have developed an expertise in this art. They have many ceremonies dedicated to drinking tea, and have special pots for each occasion. Because they have so many different styles, designs and types of pots, they are often collected the world over and it is possible for you to pick up one or many of their creations. In many cases, Japanese Teapots are made from cast iron, also called the Tetsubin, which is far older and more durable than other materials. This can be dated back to the 17th century, and was used from common household teapots, to some of the most unique and intricate pots of the area. One of the special things about the Tetsubin is that it is glazed so that it doesn’t absorb any flavor, so it can be used for many different types of teas and drinks.

What is a Yixing teapot you might ask? Well, Yixing Teapots are clay teapots that go as far back as 15th century China, and is made from Yixing clay, in the providence of Jiangsu in Eastern China. This type of teapot was actually a traditional style used to brew tea, and originated in this country. They are of simple designs, and don’t have a lot of the intricate patterns that you may find on porcelain or ceramic teapots, but the are still stylish in their simplicity.

While you might think that they would be created in Yixing, you would be incorrect. They are actually made in Dingshy but they do fall under the Yixing administration. This is a very popular tourist spot, and their Yixing Zisha Number 1 Factory has the most clay in the region.

These are only a number of examples there are for these 3 types of teapots. You can find many varieties of them online and they can even be found in historical areas and in retail stores. They will make a great addition to your home, and will be noticed by company. While they are certainly lovely to look at, they remain functional as well.
